How We Test

Every WorthCheckr verdict follows the same process, so you can compare scores across products and trust that a “9” means the same thing whether it’s a monitor or an office chair.

Our four-step process

1. Research the market

We start with the products people are actually choosing between — popular best-sellers, new releases and strong budget alternatives. We study specs, manufacturer claims, long-term owner feedback and expert sources to build a shortlist and spot the questions worth testing.

2. Test hands-on

We set each product up in a real home-office environment and use it for everyday work. Depending on the category that means full workdays in a chair, weeks of typing on a keyboard, video calls on a webcam, or raising and lowering a standing desk until we know how it really behaves. We look for the everyday annoyances spec sheets never mention.

3. Score out of 10

Each product is scored against weighted criteria for its category (below), then compared directly with its closest rivals at the same price. The overall score is the weighted total, rounded to one decimal place.

4. Re-check and update

Products, prices and firmware change. We revisit our picks regularly, re-test when it matters, and update the article — including the “Last updated” date — whenever our recommendation changes.

When we haven’t tested something

Sometimes a roundup includes a product we haven’t had hands-on time with yet — for example a brand-new release. When that happens we say so clearly in the article and explain what our recommendation is based on. We never present research as personal testing.

Independence

Brands can’t pay for a review, a placement or a score. If a manufacturer lends or gives us a product, we say so in the review, and it doesn’t change our verdict. Read our editorial guidelines and affiliate disclosure for the details.

Corrections

If you think we’ve got something wrong, please tell us. We review every correction request and update articles quickly when we find an error.
